it looked nice on your site. However the picture of it was misleading to me. I could not believe how small it was. Terribly disappointed. I looked for jumbo dimensions after that.

Very sturdy and I like the option to mount it or stick it in the ground. The way that the spike stays with the unit when not in use is ingenious. Nice size and easy to read.

I would have liked it a little larger, but I still bought it. The brass one I received also had some green leaves (ivy?) around the base. I didn't care for them, but the wife likes it so I didn't remove it. It was packed well so there was no broken glass or scratched surfaces.

I have had one of these for a decade. We moved. Had to get another. Pricey for what you get, but it is unobtrusive, very well designed, and I love it. When it gets close to freezing temps, be sure to invert the glass tube. Otherwise, it will fill with rain, freeze, and offer you a chance to buy another.

I bought this for my Dad for Father's Day, so I have no idea how good it is, but from what I hear, he loves it, and is always eager to check the precipitation levels after a good rain. I can say that this was one of the rare, high-quality glass units that I could find, and I much prefer that to cheapo plastic tubes, especially if they are going to be used in the sweltering Texas heat!
